I am the owner of Homestead Collective, a candle and home fragrance company based in the central Florida area.
I officially started HSC in 2021 but was creating long before then.
I started making candles about 12 years ago, at the time I had just become a new mom and started considering the effects of big box store products may have within my home. Wanting to make my home the safest space possible, I began to research candle ingredients to see if there was room for improvement–there was.
Most candles are made with paraffin waxes. Paraffin is made from petroleum, a nonrenewable resource and when burned they put off toxins making them bad for your health and bad for the environment.
Our wax is 100% plant based coconut soy. Soy is a non toxic renewable resource making it the safest choice for you, your pets, and the environment.
Unlike other candles, our wicks have no trace of lead or zinc– they are made from pure cotton. All of our fragrances are free of parabens and phthalates. We only choose oils in compliance with proposition 65 requirements and that adhere to all RIFM and IFRA standards.
